NAB ‘misusing’ powers: CJP

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) expressing annoyance over NAB plea for freezing bank account of accused person has disposed of petition being withdrawn. NAB application came up for hearing before 2-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial.
CJP inquire during hearing of case how much money is there in bank accounts of accused which has to be freezed. NAB prosecutor told court freezing order of Rs 48,674 bank account are required.
CJP remarked what joke it is. NAB is misusing powers at this time. NAB has got one power and it is using it everywhere. It is running after only Rs 48,000.
Justice Athar Minallah remarked NAB is not working transparently. NAB should not have filed such applications. NAB withdrew application after expression of resentment by court.
