ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) disposed of petitions against NAB notices to PTI’s Chairman Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana gifts case and said bureau was free in taking legal action against accused on not joining investigation.

It remarked that court couldn’t even stop investigation process of anti-corruption watchdog. National Accountability Bureau in its comments submitted to bench, stated that former Prime Minister was sent questionnaire, but he didn’t bother to answer it. Imran Khan also didn’t appear before investigation team despite summon issued by NAB, it said, adding that action would be taken against PTI’s Chief as per law. NAB said that Imran Khan deliberately wanted to delay matter, adding that he had received total of 58 gifts from Toshakhana. Prosecutor said that petitioners had only challenged NAB notices February 16 and 17 while bureau had also served third notice to accused. He said that petition had become ineffective with regard to two NAB notices after serving of third. Chief Justice Aamer Farooq instructed NAB to send next notices in line of directives of top court.

Court also directed NAB to proceed matter within limit of law and remarked that it couldn’t stop investigation process of anti-graft body. After this, bench disposed of cases.
