Karnataka: Muslim student in India's Karnataka state hit back at professor for comparing him with terrorist after learning about his Islamic name.

Incident took place at Manipal Institute of Technology in Udupi, according to NDTV. In a short video which went viral on social, professor had reportedly asked student his name and on hearing Muslim name had blurted: "Oh, you are like Kasab!" Ajmal Kasab, lone terrorist captured alive after 26/11 Mumbai attacks".

Student confronting professor saying: "26/11 was not funny. Being Muslim in this country and facing all this every day is not funny, sir. You can't joke about my religion that too in such derogatory manner. It's not funny sir, it's not". "You are just like my son" professor said while trying to downplay his offensive remarks. "Will you talk to your son like that? Will you call him by name of a terrorist?" student replied.

When professor said "no," student continued: "Then how can you call me like that in front of so many people? You are professional, you are teaching. A sorry doesn't change how you think or how you portray yourself here." After video went viral, institute suspended teacher and ordered an inquiry.
