Mumbai: India’s so-called image of democratic and tolerant country has been shattered once again as group of Hindu extremist ‘cow vigilantes’ beat Muslim man to death in Maharashtra’s Nashik district on suspicion of smuggling beef. Victim identified as Afan Ansari 32-year-old resident of Mumbai’s Kurla area, was accompanied by his associate Nasir Sheikh, NDTV reported.
Report stated that two men were in process of transporting meat in car when they were stopped and assaulted by so-called vigilantes. Following attack, victims were taken to nearby hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, despite receiving treatment, one of them succumbed to their injuries. “On reaching spot, we found car in damaged condition. Injured men were inside car and we admitted them to nearby hospital where one of them died,” said sub-inspector Sunil Bhamre. Police detained ten people so far in case.
