New Delhi: In another incident of hate crime, a Muslim youth Sahil Siddiqui (17) was beaten up by Bajrang Dal workers in Bulandshahr city in Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Matter came to light when a video of a mob bashing up a young boy went viral on Twitter.

Sahil’s father said that his son was targeted by Bajrang Dal on a false claim. He said it all started with police visiting them at their house asking them to come to Gulaothi Police Station as a case was being registered in name against his son.

Recounting incident, Rauf said “When I was heading to police station with Sahil, some Bajrang Dal workers stopped us on way on a plea that they wanted to settle matter outside police station. When we asked them to first tell us what was matter, they alleged that Sahil had made a video of a girl and her family has a complaint against him.”

A student of class XI, Sahil used to sit on shop of his father Rauf, who is a goldsmith. Rauf said his son was not even aware of said video before, nor any girl’s family complained to him about it.

After this, four people including district president of Bajrang Dal were taken into custody by police. Bajrang Dal workers and officials reached police station and held demonstration outside police station.–Agencies
