Murtaza Wahab says can’t instantly undo wrongs of 45 years

KARACHI: Mayor Murtaza Wahab said he could not instantly end wrongs of past 45 years. At press conference he said that China and Hong Kong cuttings were done in past, which led to difficult situation for people as rainwater enters houses. He said more than 144,000 tonnes of waste was transferred to landfill sites.

He said there were 99 collection points and three landfill sites in seven districts of city. He said 99 collection points were being cleared daily. Also, all collection points were disinfected. He said municipal staff worked as heroes in harsh weather. He said government increased amount of development funds at union council level from Rs 500,000 to Rs 1.2 million. He said that rain emergency measures are being taken in city to combact any eventuality during monsoon karachi will recieve rains above average level.
