Known for his sharp political and cultural commentary, the show has sparked controversy and is now facing legal trouble. A complaint has been filed against Hafta Vasooli, accusing it of offending religious sentiments and promoting vulgarity. Advocate Amita Sachdeva has sought an FIR under various sections of the BNS law, the IT Act, and other related regulations. The complaint alleges that the show insults multiple religions and negatively influences young audiences. The controversy has ignited widespread debate on social media, with some demanding a ban on the show, while others defend it as satire. The debut episode, featuring Sharib Hashmi and Vivian Dsena, premiered on February 14, followed by a second episode with Saqib Saleem. This is not the first time Faruqui has faced backlash. In 2021, he and four other comedians were arrested for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and spent 35 days in jail before being granted bail.
Meanwhile, Faruqui also addressed past allegations about his Bigg Boss 17 win being fixed. Some fans believed fellow finalist Abhishek Kumar was more deserving. Responding to the claims, Faruqui dismissed the speculation, stating that if he were a “fixed winner,” he wouldn’t have had to face so much scrutiny.
