Muharram: Gov Tessori directs admin to ensure civic facilities

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori sent letters to Additional Chief Secretary of Local Government, IG Sindh, DIG Traffic, K-Electric, HESCO, SEPCO and Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation, directing them to ensure availability of water, electricity, cleanliness, traffic planning and security measures during Muharram-ul-Haram.
In letters to relevant he advised authorities to consult with stakeholders to finalie traffic and security plans. Specifically, Additional Chief Secretary is directed to ensure that despite any shortages, funds are fully allocated and utilised for road carpeting, streetlights and other necessary work. Following meeting with religious scholars, Governor has established a monitoring cell at Governor House. Meanwhile, Tessori expressing his intention to enhance trade relations with Iran and other friendly nations emphasised that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran are established not only at governmental level but also among people. He was optimistic about positive and far-reaching outcomes of visit by delegation from various Iranian universities. In meeting with Iranian universities’ delegation, attended by Iran’s Vice Consul General Ghulam Abbas Zaboli, Chairman of Pakistan Higher Education Commission Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and other officials.
Governor shared that he has visited Iran twice, holding meetings and discussions with governors, Foreign Minister and officials, anticipating positive progress from these talks. He mentioned honour of awarding an honorary doctorate degree to martyred President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi. He highlighted that Governor House is providing free modern IT courses to 50,000 students and discussed plans to start language courses in Chinese, Turkish, Persian and German soon. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed stated that Pakistan is progressing in fields of science and technology. Prof. Dr. Seyed Abolhassan Navab head of delegation, expressed his longstanding affection for Pakistan, commending hospitality of its people and popularity of Pakistani mangoes, rice and sugar in Iran. Addressing students at IT marquee, Prof. Dr. Navab remarked on his extensive travel experience of 46 years, describing Pakistanis as courteous, aware and ethical.
