Karachi: A memorandum of understanding was signed between Muhammadi Welfare Foundation and Baqai Medical University, under which Muhammadi Welfare Foundation will establish a state of the art blood bank, thalassemia center and thalassemia prevention in Baqai Medical University in a phased manner.

Centers will be established, through which Gadab Town and other suburban areas will be provided with safe blood transfusions without profit, while thalassemia patients will be provided free treatment and blood transfusion facilities.

Initiatives to prevent thalassemia and diploma and certification courses in blood transfusion medicine will also be conducted in collaboration with Bakai Medical University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Iftikhar, Chairman Pathology Dr. Muhammad Rafiq Khanani, CEO Muhammadi Welfare Foundation Syed Mehdi Rizvi, Prof. Kashif, Director of Hematology Dr. Rizwan, Deputy Registrar Muhammad Farhan, Muhammadi Blood Bank Assistant Director Blood Bank Sara Sheikh and others were present.
