MQM-P gets success to bring its administrator for Karachi

KARACHI: Talks between Pakistan Peoples’ Party and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leaderships over changes to be made in Local Government Act-2013 finalised.

PPP leadership agreed upon to bring MQM-P administrator in Karachi before commencement of LG elections as per Election Commission of Pakistan in Karachi and Hyderabad on January 15, 2023. MQM’s leader Abdul Waseem would be new Karachi Administrator. It has been decided by MQM-P leadership Coordination Committee members meeting. Abdul Waseem was remained MNA on party ticket for two tenure in past. MQM sources confirmed his appointment. “It would be happened in couple of days, adding notification after approval of Sindh Law Department would be implemented,” MQM sources said.

PPP delegation led by Sindh Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah met with MQM-P leadership at MQM office in Bahadurabad. PPP delegation requested MQM leadership to withdraw its candidate for Senate election, going to be held on December 8 in Sindh Assembly on vacant of Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar who resigned on call of PPP leadership. PPP leadership nominated senior leader Waqar Mehdi for Senator.  MQM-P’s two core demands including to bring changes in current delimitation made by Sindh government and implementation on Article-140 A, which allows government to handover control of civic departments to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
