KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan decided to hold 'power shows' against 'flawed' delimitations of constituencies as Sindh government did not notify increased number of union councils.

Decision was taken during 'meeting' of MQM-P Rabta Committee, which discussed country's political situation and issues regarding delimitations of constituencies, census and agreement with Pakistan Peoples' Party.

It was told to'Daily National Courier' Rabta Committee also raised concern over non-issuance of notification of increased number of union councils in Karachi.

In this regard, MQM-P has decided to hold power show in Karachi against delimitation and violation of agreement with PPP. It further claimed that party would hold public rally on March 12 at Karachi's Bagh-i-Jinnah.

"Formal announcement of public gathering will be made through press conference", sources claimed, adding that second power show would be held in Hyderabad. A day earlier, it was reported that deadlock between MQM-P and PPP persisted as Sindh government did not notify increased number of union councils despite making promises.

It said that Khalid Maqbool-led party informed Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori about its reservation over number of UCs in Karachi and Hyderabad. Governor Tessori also discussed reservations in recent meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Sindh Governor is likely to contact PPP central leadership to address reservations.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan postponed its Karahi sit-in, which was scheduled for February 12 against 'controversial' Local Government polls, 'flawed' delimitations and voter lists. In press conference along with Sindh Governor Tessori, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui announced postponing the Karachi sit-in until peace exercises were underway.

"We are always ready to sacrifice our political interests for national security," Khalid Maqbool said, pointing out that country's stability was associated with peace and stability of Karachi.
