ZARDARI, FAZL CALL ON PM: DISCUSS POLITICAL SITUATION

ISLAMABAD: Former President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Maulana Fazl ur Rehman called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In meeting held at Prime Minister’s House, political situation in country came under discussion. Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi was also present in meeting. According to sources, overall security situation of country was also reviewed.
During meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took allies in confidence over ongoing situation while future strategy on country’s economic situation was also reviewed.
Matters pertaining to date of elections in Punjab announced by President Dr Arif Alvi were also discussed. Sources further said that PM Shehbaz has left for Lahore after meeting, while PPP co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman have left Prime Minister House.
This is second such meeting in less than 10 days by political leadership of country. On February 24, Zardari met Shehbaz to discuss political situation of country. In meeting held here at Prime Minister’s House, Punjab elections were alos came under discussion, sources added.
Development is in backdrop of Dr Alvi's office said that decision was made by President after "Considering dates proposed by Election Commission of Pakistan". Earlier, ECP in letter to President Alvi recommended that polls for provincial assembly in Punjab be held between April 30 and May 7. Election Commission met third consecutive meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in chair.
