KARACHI:  Following normal to heavy rains in Karachi day earlier, Pakistan Meteorological Department said more thundershowers were expected in some parts of city.

“Heavy rain is expected in some areas with strong wind and thunder in 24 hours,” said Met Office.  City witnessed intermittent showers throughout night with minimum temperature recorded at 26°C and maximum expected to hover between 30°C to 32°C. Weather department said humidity in air is at 92 percent and winds are blowing at speed of 16 kilometres per hour. Provincial Disaster Management Authority’s Director General Syed Salman Shah said preparations related to rain were reviewed in meeting. Heavy machinery, he said, has been installed in cities for rainwater drainage, adding that authority is making efforts to minimise inconvenience to people during rains.  PMD Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said peak of this monsoon spell was yet to be seen as more than 150 millimeters rain was likely to batter city. Sarfaraz warned heavy downpour would continue for next three to four days.
