ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met in Islamabad yesterday to discuss the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party's "attitude" during recent government-opposition talks.

The two leaders deliberated on matters of mutual interest and the overall situation in the country, according to Radio Pakistan. Naqvi praised Speaker Sadiq's efforts to foster dialogue between the treasury and opposition benches.

Both officials expressed satisfaction with the country's improving economic conditions. The pair also discussed the government's initiatives to resolve public issues.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had earlier blamed PTI for the failure of negotiations, citing the breakdown in three sittings. However, he reiterated that the ruling party was still open to continuing talks.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan rejected the Prime Minister's offer for further negotiations, claiming that the government was responsible for the collapse of talks.

"We had put forward only two demands: the release of political prisoners and the formation of judicial commissions for the May 9 and November 26 events," Gohar said.

"The government shut the door for talks by not accepting these demands." The impasse between the government and PTI continues as both sides maintain contrasting views on the path forward.
