Ministries directed to achieve IMF targets: Tarar

Islamabad: Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed ministries to achieve targets set out by International Monetary Fund (IMF) stressing that government has also chalked out mechanism of self-accountability in this regard.
Talking to media here he said, Ministry has been tasked to rein in inflation, restructure loans and digitisation of Federal Bureau of Revenue.
Ministry of Commerce has been given targets of reducing trade deficit, curbing scourge of smuggling along with April 30 deadline to ensure approval of national industrial policy.
“Ministry of Interior has been tasked with carrying out crackdown against illegal weapons,” he added. Ministry of Privatisation has been made responsible for privatisation of Pakistan International Airlines following successful negotiations regarding future of national carrier.
Meanwhile, an e-portal will also be established concerning laws passed in country. On issue of education, he stressed that relevant ministries have been directed to address issue of children who are not enrolled in schools.
