Karachi: Sindh’s Information Minister Sharjeel Memon announced that government employees will be able to get residential plots in installments.
Similar to existing journalists’ society, Information Minister announced that Sindh government plans to establish residential societies for government employees, allowing them to book plots at low cost.
Housing society scheme will specifically targeted for upper-grade and lower-grade government employees, while Sindh police, traffic police departments can also book plots in society.
Central PPP leader announced that Pakistan Steel Mill will neither be shut down nor privatised. He revealed that Sindh government plans to establish an export processing zone on land of Steel Mill, stating that Steel Mill will be jointly operated by federal and Sindh government. He said earnings from export processing zone will revitalise Steel Mill.
Following approval of new routes for electric buses, he highlighted that Karachi requires 8,000 buses to meet its transportation needs.
He mentioned that Solid Waste Management is actively working across Sindh, but real estate builders often dump debris on streets and in drains.Departments such as Food, Health, Environment, Labour, Revenue and Agriculture along with Building Control Authority and Local Government will undergo digital transformation.
He mentioned plan to introduce 50 EV buses year and a half ago, with potential to expand up to 8,000 buses. They are environmentally friendly and part of government’s large-scale plans.
He announced that several significant decisions aimed at public welfare were approved during recent Cabinet meeting. Memon highlighted approval of primary teacher appointments in Obawaro and measures to curb debris disposal on roads by arresting offenders.
Notable project approved is development of modern hospital, school, autism center and playground for special children on 100 acres along Malir Expressway. This complements previous efforts by Sindh government and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Registration fee for electric vehicles has been extended for another two years at Rs 1,000, following the introduction of 50 EV buses. He reiterated government’s zero-tolerance policy on drugs, acknowledging the significant and ongoing battle against drug abuse.
