Mineral sector achieving new development goals under SIFC: PM Kakar

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar said Pakistan’s mineral sector, valued in billions of dollars was achieving new heights of development under Special Investment Facilitation Council.

Talking to delegation of Miracle Salt Collective Inc which called on him here, during meeting he hoped that salt export from country would increase after signing of joint venture between Pakistan Mineral Development Cooperation (PMDC) and Miracle Salt. He said it will also further strengthen trade ties with US.

“This joint venture is manifestation of fact that Pakistan has most suitable destination for foreign investment,” he added.

He said Himalayan pink salt was identity of Pakistan in all over world and its export in international markets will be welcome sign. He said during its short tenure, caretaker government took several steps to promote foreign direct investment and to facilitate businesses in country which yielded positive results.

Delegation of Miracle Salt thanked government, especially Special Investment Facilitation Council for its cooperation with company. They told Kakar that after formation of company in Pakistan, it will be listed on major stock exchanges around world, which will benefit government of Pakistan and local investors.

Delegation also apprised interim PM about plan of action prepared regarding economic improvement, education and health and employment provision of local population in salt mining areas.
