Militants attack police check post, leaves constable martyred

LAKKI MARWAT: Militant attacks against law and security forces continued with New Year arriving, as one policeman was martyred during terrorists’ attack on police check post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district. Police Constable Tehseen Ullah was martyred after militants stormed at check post on Indus Highway. Police said militants used heavy arms and ammunitions to attack check post, but were forced to recede through strong and solid response by police party. A search operation was underway in area, police said. A body of alleged terrorist was also recovered from nearby of check post.
Police said he was wanted to Counter Terrorism Department Bannu. Lakki Marwat police spokesperson Shahid Hameed said, RPG-7s, grenades and other “Advanced weapons” were used. “A key terrorist was killed during police’s retaliatory action,” he said, identifying him as Owais Abdulkhel. Weapons were recovered from his possession.
