KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader and former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail said that after Pakistan Peoples' Party decision not to become part of centre, it would be 'minority' PML-N's government.
In statement, Miftah Ismail said that if PML-N is able to form federal government, it would be minority government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would be 'strong' opposition. He said that PML-N would find it very difficult to fulfill its promises to people. "Next two years will be very difficult for government as many reforms are to be done," he added.
Miftah Ismail said that new government would have to engage with International Monetary Fund, adding that PML-N should be very cautious in dealing with challenges. Miftah said that he is not in contact with PML-N leadership.
"Party does not need my advice, nor do I have any advice for them," he said. He added that 90 million Pakistanis came below poverty line, urging all parties to make decisions in wider interest of country. "Long-term policy must be kept in mind. New government would be compelled to take difficult decisions," Miftah Ismail said.
He said that had there been good decisions in 16-month government, results would certainly have been different. "Had Ishaq Dar completed IMF deal on time, situation would have been different today," he added.
