HANAU: As Germany gears up for federal elections next month, Pakistani expatriates are increasingly making their presence felt in German politics.

Mehwish Iftikhar, a 25-year-old Pakistani from Azad Kashmir, is one such example. Contesting on the Green Party platform, Mahwish is determined to make a difference.

Having lived in Germany for over 20 years, Mahwish is well-versed in local politics. Her entry into politics began with participating in local body elections, and she has been cycling across Hanau to connect with voters and promote her campaign.

Mahwish emphasizes that a significant number of Pakistanis reside in Germany, and it's essential to address their concerns in parliament.

By participating in German politics, Mahwish aims to promote Pakistani representation and foster greater understanding between the two nations.

The upcoming federal elections in February will see various parties, including SPD, CDU, Green Party, Justice Party, and AFD, vying for power.

The participation of overseas Pakistanis in German elections is expected to not only elevate Pakistan's prestige but also facilitate the resolution of issues affecting Pakistani expatriates.
