Meeting with KPC members: Nation in grief by Nawabshah’s train accident: Info Minister

KARACHI: Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said that entire nation is saddened by tragic accident of train near Nawab Shah. She said investigation of train incident has begun and whatever comes out will be brought to people.

She said appointment of caretaker Prime Minister is constitutional responsibility of opposition leader and Prime Minister. Whatever decision is taken will be before people of Pakistan. PEMRA Amendment Bill is media law, as long as there are objections, there will be no legislation on it, she added. Talking to media after visiting Karachi Press Club (KPC) she said that purpose of coming to Karachi Press Club was to meet all of you. Everyone is aware of importance of Karachi Press Club. During PTI era, there was ban on media, at that time Press Club was only place where our press conference could be organised on single call. She said that Press Club always gave us opportunity to express our views to others with freedom.

In last four years, voice of political rivals was suppressed. Pemra Ordinance 2002 was law prepared by dictator, process of consultation is going on for its amendment, PEMRA Amendment Bill 2023 was prepared after 12 months of consultation and it is going on in Standing Committee of Senate. Provincial Chief Ministers, members from all parliamentary parties including MQM, JUI were present.

Digital census was unanimously approved in Council of Common Interests. Foreign investment is being attracted under SIFC. All provinces are members of SIFC, all ministries are part of it.   We will complete our constitutionaal term, it is responsibility of Election Commission to conduct elections. Election Commission has constitutional responsibility to conduct elections.In meeting DG PR Erum Tanveer was also present.
