Meeting Iran’s Supreme leader offers condolence over Raisi’s death

TEHRAN: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held meeting with Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Imam Khamenei and offered condolence on tragic demise of President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hussein Amirabdollahian and others in helicopter crash.
According to press statement issued by PM Office, PM Shehbaz said that President Ebrahim Raisi was an exemplary leader, who demonstrated steadfast commitment to serving his nation and people.
Recalling President Raisi’s visit to Pakistan in April 2024, he highlighted significant role of late Iranian President in further strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran.
He said that services rendered by President Ebrahim Raisi for unity of Muslim ummah and for people of Gaza will be remembered in history. He reiterated solidarity with Iranian brethren.
Ayatollah Imam Khamenei acknowledged sentiments expressed by government and people of Pakistan during this challenging time. He expressed gratitude for outpouring of emotions and thanked Pakistan for its unwavering support.
He emphasised Iran’s commitment to giving utmost importance to its relations with Pakistan and pledged to advance vision of late Iranian President Raisi concerning Pakistan-Iran relations. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar were present.
Moreover, Prime Minister and his entourage attended memorial ceremony of late Iran President Ebrahim Raisi.
He visited hall where late President’s body was laid. He offered fateha, according to statement issued by Prime Minister’s Office. He expressed his condolences on behalf of government and people of Pakistan to Iran’s acting President Dr Muhammad Mokhber.
On other hand, Prime Minister accompanied by delegation including key Cabinet ministers will visit United Arab Emirates today.
During visit, he is scheduled to meet with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed President of UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
Two leaders will discuss bilateral relations between Pakistan and UAE, with special focus on trade and investment, stated Foreign Office spokesperson. Additionally, premier is expected to meet other Emirati dignitaries, businesspersons and heads of financial institutions.
