KARACHI: Toxic gases emitted by illegal factories and an outbreak of measles in Mawach Goth area of Keamari District could be prime reasons behind alarming and mysterious deaths of several children, teenagers and adults during last two weeks, said report presented to Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah.

Report compiled by health and environmental experts said reason behind deaths could be outbreak of measles in Mawach Goth as not single child was vaccinated against disease. Report held focal persons of Sindh health department responsible for 'negligence'.

Report said that special committee conducted interviews and tests of people in Ali Muhammad Village, Mawach Goth. During field investigation, 49 cases of measles were unearthed, report said and further added that blood samples of 13 people were sent to NIH for further tests.

Air and water samples from two different spots in Ali Muhammad Village were also collected. 81 percent of affected population is aged 11 years.
