Mayor announces allocation of land plan for new cemeteries

Karachi: Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab said that lack of cemetery places in city will be met, two hundred acres of land has been allocated for new graveyard in Keamari district and development work will be started at this place soon. A place for another cemetery is being acquired soon in Malir district.
Presiding over meeting regarding current situation of cemeteries in city and construction of new cemeteries he said that construction of model graveyard in Keamari will be started soon and preliminary work in this regard is going on. Cemetery will meet needs of people of Keamari and other adjacent districts and all facilities will be provided for burial here. He said that during his visit to different areas, citizens have identified shortage of places in graveyards and solving problems is our first priority that is reason why work has been started on project of two new model cemeteries.
He said that condition of existing cemeteries in city will also be improved and boundary walls of cemeteries will be constructed and repaired and water and lighting arrangements will be made there so that citizens can attend burial without any difficulty. Improving internal condition of cemeteries, it is also necessary to make surrounding area better and cleaner, especially on Shab-e Barat and Eid, as number of citizens visit cemeteries.
It is necessary to make roads leading to graveyards better and brighter, every possible effort will be made to provide maximum facilities to citizens in this regard. Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, Deputy Commissioner District Keamari Ghulam Qadir Talpur, Focal Person Minister of Local Government Sindh Karamullah Waqasi and relevant officials were present.
