ISLAMABAD: Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif said accountability of perpetrators of May 9 mayhem would reach to its logical conclusion as it was matter of sanctity of martyrs’ and 240 million Pakistanis’ pride in their Armed Forces.

Addressing news conference flanked by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, he termed attacks on military installations as tantamount to country enmity.

He said Armed Forces and civil law enforcement agencies are fighting war for country’s survival and rendering sacrifices every day during ongoing war on terror. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf deliberately damaged prestige of state institution under its inimical motive, he alleged. Defence Minister accused PTI for making Army Chief’s appointment controversial whereas appointment was only prerogative of Prime Minister. “I have been four times part of process as Defence Minister which was never influenced by any entity as it was then PML-N government’s vision to appoint most decorated soldier as Army Chief,” he said.

He said PTI former chairman orchestrated new narrative of “Absolutely not, and no to slavery”, but his party leaders were meeting with US Ambassador and hiring lobbyists to beseech them for relief. He accused PTI for hatching out conspiracy against state institutions in past years and termed it as planned activity and not an abrupt or new move. PTI, he said has done nothing for betterment of country despite ten years rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
