Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz said that government should deal with Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf as terrorist organisation and time had passed to sit and negotiate with Imran Khan. In hard-hitting press conference here, she lashed out at Imran Khan creating “Scene” at his Zaman Park residence, saying Khan announced “Revolt against state institutions”.
Referring to clashes outside Khan’s residence, she said that scenes at Zaman Park and kacha area are similar. Kacha area is infamous for being haven for notorious criminals, including high-profile kidnappers. Maryam accused Khan of attacking state in collaboration with banned organisations. She said that he was “Launched” into government at behest of “External forces”.
Turning her guns towards judiciary and establishment, Maryam said that Justice (retd) Asif Saeed Khosa gave shameful titles to PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif. Khosa, former Chief Justice of Pakistan had reportedly used terms of ‘Sicilian Mafia’ and ‘Godfather’ while hearing Panama Papers case involving three-time Prime Minister and others. Strongly reacting to former US envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Zalmay Khalilzad’s remarks about Khan’s possible arrest, Maryam asked, “Who gave Zalmay Khalilzad right to interfere in internal affairs of Pakistan?” In series of tweets, Khalilzad said that arresting Imran Khan would only deepen crisis in Pakistan. He offered Islamabad advice on how to deal with political, economic and security crises being faced by country. She asked, “Why Zalmay Khalilzad was kept silence when journalists were subjected to torture during Imran’s tenure?” Responding to question, she said that Khan was telling lie about bail on international media.
