Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz stopped Capt (retd) Safdar Awan from delivering ‘policy statements’ after he criticised party’s leadership.

Maryam Nawaz took notice of Safdar Awan’s statements, criticising party leadership. Sources said that Safdar was stopped from giving ‘policy statements’. Maryam Nawaz ordered PML-N leaders to refrain from giving statements creating differences in political party. “Not seeing Maryam Nawaz as PM in near future,” Captain (retd) Safdar Awan said in his exclusive interview with private V channel. PML-N leader said ‘vote ko izzat do’ narrative of party was buried on day when PML-N decided to vote to ensure an extension to former COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa. Safdar said he thinks whoever vote for Qamar Javed Bajwa’s extension except for Pervaiz Rasheed are ‘convicts.’

He said Nawaz Sharif was man who ‘challenged’ status quo and later he was ‘deceived’ by some of party leaders. He vowed to expose team which ‘deceived’ former prime minister. He regretted his personal attacks on Imran Khan and political rivalry should remain political, not personal. We all have shortcomings in our life that should not be exploited in political rivalry, he added.

In reply to a question, Maryam Nawaz’s husband said parliamentarians should not change their loyalties. It is not right to win elections on PTI’s tickets and later change your loyalties for power, he maintained.

Safdar was of view that elections in Punjab and KP should be delayed and went on to say to hold general elections in 2025 after recovery of economy.
