Maqbool Baqir to take oath as caretaker CM Sindh tomorrow

KARACHI: The oath-taking ceremony of caretaker CM Sindh Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqir, that was earlier delayed by on day, will be held tomorrow (Thursday).

According to details, the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for August 16 (Wednesday) will now be held on August 17 (Thursday) due to busy schedule of Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori who is currently visiting Islamabad.

According to sources, oath-taking ceremony of Caretaker CM Maqbool Baqar will be held at Governor House Karachi at 6:00pm on Thursday which will be attended by key political figures of the province.

Outgoing Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and opposition leader in the now-dissolved provincial assembly Rana Ansar have agreed on naming Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar as the caretaker chief minister of the province. They subsequently signed and sent the advice to the Governor Sindh for the final approval.

Governor Kamran Tessori approved the appointment of Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar as caretaker Chief Minister under Article 224 (1A) of the Constitution.

Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar on Tuesday expressed his willingness to address public concerns as he prepares to take his oath as the caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh on Thursday.

Justice Baqar shared that he has been briefed on his responsibilities, and his immediate priority is to assemble the provincial cabinet. He emphasized that the role of the interim government is to support the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in conducting elections.
