Mandokhail Committee re-instates 840 PIA employees of fake degree scandal, terminates unruly bureaucrats

KARACHI: Tug of war between top bureaucracy and public elected representatives has been further heated up with termination orders of handful of unruly bureaucrats issued by Qadir Khan Mandokhail, Chairman National Assembly Special Committee on Affected Employees yesterday. Committee directed to re-instate all 840 employees of PIA terminated on allegation of fake degree from 2009 till date along with all benefits.

According to details National Assembly Special Committee on Affected Employees under Chairmanship of Qadir Khan Mandokhail MNA has unanimously directed Establishment Division for termination of services of Secretary CAA, Air Marshal Aamir Hayat CEO PIA, Air Commodore Aamir Altaf CHRO PIA, Khakan Murtaza DG CAA and Sahibzada Khan DG. Copies of said recommendations shall also be endorsed to Prime Minister’s Office and NA Speaker Office for information.   

Special Committee observed with grave concern that in-spite of clear notice no one from CAA and from PIA attended meeting held on February 7. Committee recommended moving of Privilege Motion against all above-mentioned officers and jointly signed Privilege Motion during meeting.

Committee reiterated its previous directions January 21, 2023 and once again directed to Director General FIA, Secretary CAA and CEO PIA to implement same. It was also directed to restore 250 sacked employees and 412 employees of CAA terminated from various airports, appointed under PM assistance package with further direction that their pending dues shall also be cleared. They were also directed to attend meeting scheduled for February 13, 2023 along with implementation report of all recommendations.
