Manchhar Lake water level starts declining: Irrigation Deptt

JAMSHORO: Water level has started going down at flooding Manchhar Lake, citing irrigation department sources. “Water level in Lake has dropped by two inches to 122.5 feet,” Sindh Irrigation Department officials said. “Water gushing from Manchhar Lake has submerged 500 villages of 10 union councils in area,” according to irrigation department.
“Water rapidly discharging into Indus River from four breaches administered at L.S. flood protective Bund at Karampur point,” irrigation department stated. “Floodwater from Lake will discharge into River within one month period,” department officials said. “Indus River has still been in high flood at Kotri Barrage,” irrigation department said. Water level in river has now going down at Kotri as flood flow moving downstream to Indus delta to drop into sea. Manchhar Lake, spreading over Dadu and Jamshoro districts of Sindh is largest freshwater reservoir in Pakistan.
