Tangerang: Maliha Ali representing Pakistan secured bronze medal in -73 kg category at 6th Asian Open Kyorugi Taekwondo Championship held here-Indonesia, from October 15 to 18, 2024.

Maliha, student at Lahore Garrison University showcased her hard work and dedication throughout the competition, earning accolades for her impressive performance. championship saw fierce competition, with more than 275 athletes from various Asian nations, including India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Nepal, and the host country, Indonesia, participating in the event. Gold medal in the -73 kg category was claimed by South Korea’s Shin Jeong Jin, while Indonesia’s Maheshwari Nadira took home the silver medal.

Maliha’s success not only underscores her personal commitment but also serves as an inspiration for her teammates and aspiring taekwondo athletes across Pakistan. Before the championship, a 16-member taekwondo squad from Pakistan arrived in Indonesia, eager to make their mark in this prestigious tournament. Event, hosted at the Indore Stadium Sports Centre, has provided a platform for athletes to compete at a high level and foster camaraderie among the nations.
