Mahira Khan is undoubtedly one of Pakistan’s most iconic stars, beloved by fans and peers alike for her grace, talent, and unfiltered honesty.

From her breakthrough as a VJ to becoming one of the most sought-after actors in the entertainment industry, Mahira’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. Yet despite her fame, the Maula Jatt star has always kept her personal life closely guarded, only offering glimpses of her world when she feels ready. In a candid conversation with the BBC Asian Network, Mahira recently opened up about her career, her son, and the challenges she’s faced along the way.

With her fortieth birthday fast approaching, the star reflected on the milestones of her life-both personal and professional-and the lessons she’s learned. “People aren’t always comfortable talking about their birthdays,” Mahira muses. “But I’ve always been open about my age, my marriage, my divorce, and being a single mother. If I can’t be honest about those basic things, then I’m not being true to myself.” Having started her career in the early 2000s, Mahira quickly became a household name, with notable roles in both Pakistani dramas and Bollywood films. Reflecting on her journey, she acknowledges the immense changes in the industry. “When I started, everything felt like a first,” she recalls.

“But now, there are so many opportunities for young actors. The opportunities available today are mind-blowing.” The star also spoke highly of the new generation of talent, citing Hania Aamir as a prime example of someone who is unapologetically herself and making the most of the opportunities in the industry.
