On April 4th, 1979, shadow fell over Pakistan. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, charismatic leader and founding father of Pakistan Peoples' Party was no more. But even in his absence, Bhutto's legacy continues to inspire millions.

His unwavering commitment to democracy, his championing of common man and his vision for progressive Pakistan resonate deeply even today.

Bhutto founded PPP in 1967 on bedrock of socialist ideals. He envisioned Pakistan where social justice reigned supreme, where wealth of nation benefited all, and where education and opportunity were not privilege of few. Party's manifesto, steeped in Bhutto's vision, promised nationalisation of key industries to empower state and redistribute wealth. It advocated for strong, independent foreign policy and robust national defense.

Indeed, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was vocal advocate for democracy in region who faced imprisonment and political maneuvering throughout his career, but he never wavered in his belief in power of people's voice. After tragic secession of East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in 1971, Bhutto, as President, shouldered immense responsibility of healing fractured nation. He ushered in new constitution, one that enshrined democratic principles and aimed to create more inclusive Pakistan.

Bhutto's persona was as captivating as his ideology. A gifted orator, he possessed an undeniable charisma that resonated with masses. He spoke with fiery passion that ignited sense of hope and empowerment in hearts of millions. He was unafraid to challenge status quo, his sharp intellect and strong convictions often placing him at odds with establishment. Yet, he remained deeply connected to people, earning moniker "The Lion of Larkana" - a reference to his birthplace in Sindh.

Bhutto's life and work were tragically cut short. However, his legacy continues to influence Pakistani politics. PPP, under leadership of his great daughter Benazir Bhutto (first female Prime Minister of Muslimmajority country) and now his dynamic grandson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, remains major political force, striving to uphold Bhutto's ideals and legacy in letter and spirit.

Last but not least, Pakistan Peoples Party co-Chairman and incumbent President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari is vibrantly taking ahead

legacy set by party's founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and also following footprints of great Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed with an intent to make Pakistan much stronger than before. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's impact extends beyond political realm. He is remembered for his focus on education, particularly for women. He is credited with establishing universities and promoting scientific advancement. His commitment to strong national defense ensured Pakistan's security on world stage.
