Karachi: President Karachi Library Association Farheen Mehmood and Transitional Officer Municipality Central Shimoona Sadaf discussed holding first Library Institute and Library Festival at District Central.

There is need to establish libraries compatible with modern requirements in Central District, Shamoona added. It is necessary to have library containing books of various sciences and arts in schools and colleges, Farheen said. Nations that maintained their relationship with books thrive, they asserted.

Municipal officials were present. Meeting discussed restoration of libraries in District. Libraries were also established in schools run under municipal bodies. Libraries play an important role in promotion of knowledge, they said.

Curriculum requirements in educational institutions are not fulfilled by textbooks alone. It is also important to have additional books for academic and research needs.

Education Advisor Central Municipality Syed Arshad Alam Geelani said that in this age of technology, we should digitise our libraries, every area should have library so that people can study.
