LAHORE: As Imran Khan failed to appear in person before Lahore High Court (LHC), it rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman’s plea seeking protective bail in terror case registered against him over alleged vandalism during protests in Islamabad against his disqualification by Election Commission of Pakistan.
Imran Khan was booked in terror case in October last year after Toshakhana verdict was announced by ECP, sparking countrywide protests. FIR stated that PTI activists pelted stones at police, FC and administration officials, injuring several.
It stated that protestors tried to ram their cars into police with intention of murder, set trees on fire in Faizabad and surrounding areas and tried to harm government property. Terror case was lodged on state’s behalf at Islamabad’s Sangjani Police Station.
Earlier today, Azhar Siddique Khan’s counsel filed plea in LHC seeking 15-day protective bail for his client. In his plea, PTI leader said that he respects court, adding that he wanted to approach Islamabad’s courts but there are fears of his arrest.
