LHC suspends arrest warrants of Imran, Fawad

RAWALPINDI: Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench suspended arrest warrants for PTI leaders Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry in ECP contempt case. Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan heard case. Advocate Faisal Chaudhry appeared before court on behalf of Imran Khan and Fawad Chaudhry.
During hearing, PTI lawyer said that since Election Commission of Pakistan is not constitutional court, therefore it could not issue arrest warrants.
After hearing arguments, court suspended arrest warrants for Imran and Fawad Ch in ECP contempt case. Judge, however directed that ECP should continue its contempt proceedings against PTI leaders.
Faisal Ch assured court that his clients have been appearing before ECP during its proceedings and they will continue to do so.
It is pertinent to mention here that ECP has issued bailable arrest warrants for Imran Khan and Fawad Ch summoning them to appear before Commission on January 17.
