LHC orders LEAs to stop operation at Zaman Park

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered law enforcers to stop operation at Zaman Park initiated day earlier to arrest PTI Chief Imran Khan in Toshakhana case. LHC’s Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh ordered that operation should be stopped till 10am on Thursday. Earlier in day, LHC ordered Punjab IGP and DIG Operations of Islamabad Police to appear before court immediately and adjourned hearing on petition a petition for later today.
Petition was moved after clashes erupted when police tried to arrest Imran Khan for not showing up in case against him related to selling state gifts. A district and sessions court in federal capital last week issued his arrest warrants. Security forces had fired tear gas and water cannons at hundreds of Khan’s supporters who had cordoned off his home in an effort to prevent his arrest. In latest development, forces withdrew from Khan’s home for time being ahead of match of Pakistan Super League in Lahore.
As Justice Sheikh resumed hearing, IGP Usman Anwar, Lahore CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Advocate General Punjab Shan Gill and others officials appeared in court. Advocate Azhar Siddique represented PTI in case
