LHC bins contempt plea against Maryam Nawaz

Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected contempt of court appeal against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz. According to details, hearing of intra-court appeal for contempt of court proceedings against Maryam Nawaz was heard by two-member bench of Lahore High Court headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najafi. Plea was moved against PML-N leader over her anti-judiciary remarks.
At outset of today’s hearing, lawyer of plaintiff requested court to withdraw appeal. Court on basis of withdrawal of contempt of court plea, dismissed it. Earlier Maryam Nawaz questioned judiciary’s ‘leniency’ towards Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan.
PML-N leader lambasted five-member ‘Panama bench’, disqualified her father, alleging: “Five notorious judges disliked Nawaz and sought revenge from him.” Petition was filed against Maryam Nawaz Sharif for contempt proceedings for her anti-judiciary remarks.
