Legend Qavi Khan passes away, leaving behind plethora of memories

Karachi: Veteran radio, television and film legend Qavi Khan passed away in Canada, He was 80. He was under cancer treatment there and residing with his son Adnan Qavi, reports said. He was recipient of Nigar Award, Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz awards. He was recipient of life achievement awards from PTV and Radio Pakistan.
He was born in Peshawar in 1942 in Yousuf Zai family. Government has decided to award Qavi Nishan-e-Pakistan this year. He performed in lot of TV serials, plays and feature films. He started his career as child star in Radio Pakistan dramas.
He started his film career in 1965. Renowned actor died of prolonged illness and was in Canada for treatment, where he breathed his last. Khan's riveting performance as Ghalib at Pakistan National Council of Arts or his acting in PTV drama Koi Na Adda Sanj Mila are testaments to his decades-long career. Besides television and theatre, he continuously showcased his artistic ability in films and radio as well.
He married in 1968 and had four children—all of whom, instead of following in his footsteps, decided to settle abroad. He travelled world but found himself bound to his country. He became obsessed with idea of making films. But it was business beyond his creative talent. He was too simple man for devious ways of distributors and exhibitors. He lost great deal of money in this enterprise.
