LAHORE: Sardar Latif Khosa, a senior lawyer and prominent political leader, yesterday announced parting ways with the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

While speaking to the media in Lahore at his residence, the former Punjab governor said he was joining the party “on the wish” of PTI founder Imran Khan.

“I have decided this only in the interest of the country and democracy,” he said adding that he will keep raising his voice for the truth. Khosa also held a press conference in Lahore confirming his decision.

Referring to the Constitution, the senior lawyer said it was a civil agreement with the characteristics of a welfare state and the country has suffered whenever the Constitution was deviated from.

Ï have dedicated my services to PTI and am free to join the party of my choosing, said Khosa as he called for ending the “oppression” of PTI’s founder. Khosa is a member of Imran’s legal team and is representing him and the party in high-profile cases.
