Newzealand: With Tom Latham (145* off 104 balls) and Kane Williamson’s (94* off 98 balls) cemented 221-run partnership, New Zealand defeated India by 7 wickets. The home side chased down the 307-run target with 17 balls to spare, reaching 309 for 3 in 47. 1 overs. For India, debutant Umran Malik took two wickets for 66 runs while Shardul Thakur got one.

India posted 306/7 after being asked to bat in the first ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand on Friday. Shreyas Iyer top-scored with 80 off 76 balls while Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill chipped in with fifties However, it was the late cameo from Washington Sundar that took India past 300. For Zealand, Lockie Ferguson and Tim Southee took three wickets apiece.
