Large-scale alternative energy projects necessary to overcome energy crisis: Gov Tessori

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori said that energy problems must be solved to improve economy and provide necessary relief to people. It is important to increase reliance on alternative and renewable sources of energy.

Addressing seminar on energy and environment. He said that wind, solar and hydropower resources can play an important role in production of electricity. He said that large-scale alternative energy projects are necessary to overcome energy crisis in shortest possible time. Distribution companies, especially K Electric, improve power supply system for their customers, as power crisis results in serious law and order situation. Kamran Tessori said that energy related institutions in Sindh should serve public with maximum efficiency so that electricity consumers do not face exploitation and injustice. We have set up call centre for this purpose, number of which is 1366. Governor congratulating organisers on 27th anniversary of Energy Update, monthly magazine of Department of Environment and Energy said that being premier magazine in energy sector, it was good move for Energy Update to provide expert guidance on country's energy problems and their possible solutions on issues.

Meanwhile, eleven-member delegation of Yadgar Ghalib Library met him at Governor House. In meeting, role of libraries in increasing knowledge, provision of facilities and issues were discussed. Governor said that libraries are an important source of information, especially for students, libraries are repository of knowledge. He said that Ghalib Library is one of most important libraries in city. Students are also benefiting.

Moreover Governor visited former Chief Justice of Federal Shariat Court Pakistan Dr. Agha Rafique Ahmed Khan in local hospital. Governor inquired after well-being of Agha Rafiq and prayed for his speedy recovery.
