Landmark initiatives being undertaken to exploit agri potential: PM

Islamabad: National Seminar on Agriculture Food Security was held at Jinnah Convention centre here. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was chief guest, he highlighted importance of agriculture for economy of Pakistan and landmark steps being undertaken by government to exploit full potential in agriculture and other domains under ambit of recently launched SIFC.
Prime Minister said that Green Pakistan Initiative would be second green revolution of Pakistan which will pave way for prosperity and progress of country, InshaAllah. General Syed Asim Munir, COAS attended seminar as guest of honour. He said initiative to likely to attract investment to tune of thirty to fifty billion dollars in next four to five years. He said this will also provide job opportunities to four million people. He credited Army Chief General Asim Munir for envisioning this initiative. He was confident that our agriculture economy will revive in next two years. He assured to extend full facilitation to farmers in order to bolster agri productivity. He said it is responsibility of government to provide conducive environment to farmers through provision of quality seeds, pesticides and fertilizers. Farmers should also get due price of their crops.
He said country witnessed record wheat production this year as government enhanced wheat support price. He expressed confidence that cotton crop will also see major boost because of increase in its minimum support price. Seminar was attended by ministers, chief ministers of Punjab and Sindh, Chief Secretaries of governments, agricultural experts and farmers from all provinces. Foreign dignitaries and potential investors and experts from UK, Italy, Spain, China, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and various countries also attended seminar.
Agriculture experts and farmers highly appreciated government’s landmark initiative and Pak Army’s special focus on revolutionising agriculture sector by promoting modern contemporary technology, collaboration of public and private sectors and trickling down dividends to local farmers to alleviate poverty.
