Land grabbers roaming all around KW&SC NEK filter plant

Karachi: Encroachment by the land grabbers is continued within and surroundings of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation NEK filter plant near Janjal goth Karachi.

Land grabbers entered the staff colony few days back supported by machinery and concrete blocks, sources told. Land grabbers has now started infiltrating residential colonies while the Managing Director Syed Salahuddin has miserably failed to save government lands. According to the details, the land grabbers had several times attempted to enter into the NEK Filter Plant Staff Colony until they finally succeeded few days back. Residents of the colony and local officials have stopped the encroachment by risking their lives and put up strong resistance and chased them away

. On receiving the information, a case is also registered on the complaint of Sub-Engineer KDC-I Furqan Ahmed at the Gulshan-e-Memar police station. Alleged land grabbers are identified as Younis Brohi, Nazir, Nora Bugti, Sher Bugti, Aslam and Peer Bakhsh Chana, however police has failed to arrest any. The accused had fled before the arrival of the police, residents told. A resident employee of the staff colony was also shot a few months ago within colony premises. The employees of the staff colony have appealed for protection.

Despite repeated intimation from the employees, the MD did not take any protective measure for the safety of lives of employees and protection of government land. KWSC security chief and other staff had also not responded to this situation. Spokesperson KWSC Abdul Qadir Shaikh was contacted for official version but he didn’t respond.
