KWSB, WB team pay visit to ongoing K-4 project

Karachi: CEO, MD KWSB Syed Salahuddin Ahmed along with World Bank delegation visited K-4 Intake Point Chalia Thatta and inspected progress and ongoing work on K-4 phase one project of Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme. During visit, bulk water system of Water Board along with Dhabejee Pumping Station and Pipri Filter Plant were also inspected. World Bank delegation included Country Director for Pakistan Najy Benhassine and Operation Manager for Pakistan Gailius Draugelis while COO KWSB Asadullah Khan, Chief Engineer Bulk Sikandar Zardari, Chief Engineer E&M Intekhab Ahmed Rajput, PD K-4 Wapda Aamir Mughal and senior officials of Board WAPDA were present.
Asadullah Khan and PD K-4 Amir Mughal gave detailed briefing to World Bank delegation regarding project. Main objective of K-4 phase one project is to improve and sustain water delivery system in Karachi. K-4 project phase one 260 MGD is under construction in Thatta and Malir districts. It will provide water to Karachi with help of three reservoirs from Keenjhar Lake Thatta, 100 km away.
Aamir Mughal briefed that 650 MGD structure is being constructed under K-4 project and 650 MGD gravity channel to Kenjhar Pumping Complex is to be constructed. Under 260 MGD K-4 project, three reservoirs and pumping stations will be constructed near Northern Bypass, NEK Old and Pipri Filter Plant.
