KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab said that 12 suction, 12 jetting and 10 hybrid vehicles will soon be handed over to Water and Sewerage Board which will help in opening choke points of sewage lines in city. Two mobile workshops have also been handed over to Water Board to improve sewage system.
Visiting to factory of Mairaj Limited, he said inspected mobile workshops also drove. He said immediate action should be taken on complaints received from any area of city regarding sewage system. In order to protect roads and streets of city from overflowing sewage and to prevent roads and streets from falling into disrepair, it is necessary to develop underground sewerage system on better and modern lines for which modern and standard machinery is being made available.
General Secretary Pakistan Peoples’ Party South District Karamullah Waqasi and officers and elected representatives were present.
Meanwhile Murtaza Wahab and COO Water Board Asadullah Khan met main leaders of Jafri Alliance. They were asked to take effective measures for water supply and drainage throughout city before Muharram. During meeting, Jafri Alliance Central Leader Shabar Zaidi, Chief Sewerage Engineer Aftab Alam Chandio, SE Syed Ijaz Ahmed discussed complaints on drainage in masajid, imam bargahons, majlis villages, sabils and procession routes. Mayor Karachi gave instructions to Water Board officials. He said that they should maintain their old traditions and improve citizens by completely eliminating complaints of water supply and drainage throughout city before Muharram. Facilities should be provided and ring slabs and covers should be placed on all open manholes.
