KWSB in operation cuts illegal water connection, confiscates equipment

Karachi: On instructions of Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, Vice Chairman Board Syed Najmi Alam, CEO Board Syed Salahuddin Ahmed and COO Asadullah Khan Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) cracked down on water thieves. Multiple illegal connection were disconnected.

Cases were registered against accused in respective police stations, it said. Chief Engineer Water Muhammad Hanif Baloch, in-charge Anti-Theft Cell Abdul Wahid Sheikh, Executive Engineer KD Civil Abdul Aziz, DSP Site Super Highway Sohail Faiz and SHO Bashir of Gulshan Myamar action against water thieves in Jhanjal Goth District West and Mullah Ahmed Ali Goth East was initiated.

Some 20 illegal connections from Bulk Rising Main 48 Qatar PRRC line of Water Board were disconnected. Salahuddin Ahmed said that during operation, hundreds of feet of pipes, valves and other equipment were seized and deposited in respective police stations.  He said that accused used to sell water at high prices in different areas of city.

He said that strict action will be taken against those selling unhealthy water in city because no one is above law. He said that scope of operation against in this regard will be widened. COO Water Board Asadullah Khan said that accused involved in water theft do not deserve any discount.
