KWSB gets corporation status, to be headed by Mayor Karachi

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that after Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) got status of corporation, another promise made by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto to people has been fulfilled. He said that transfer of powers to local bodies will be means of providing facilities and relief to people which is vision of Bilawal Bhutto.

He said that KWSB getting corporation status benefits will reach people soon. He said that increase in powers of Mayor Karachi will bring convenience to citizens, while increase in powers of elected local representatives will continue. He said that under direction of Bilawal Bhutto, Sindh government is trying to provide maximum relief and facilities to people.

Election was held for Karachi mayor and deputy mayor at Arts Council Karachi under strict security. Mayoral contest was between Wahab and JI candidate Naeemur Rehman Rehman, as all other candidates had withdrawn their nomination papers, while Salman Abdullah and Saifuddin of PPP and JI, respectively contested for post of deputy mayor.

According to entry register 332 elected members reached polling station, as 34 members of KMC failed to reach Arts Council Karachi on election day.
