Karachi: Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) condemned senior journalist Syed Mukhtar Shah’s abuse of authority by Joharabad Police for taking him to Police Sstation without warrant by raiding his house harassing him.
IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has been demanded to take immediate notice of this matter and take strict action against concerned police officials.
It has been said that ASI Aftab of Joharabad Police on night of October 24-25 along with two policemen in plain clothes forcibly took him to Police Station. Police did not have any warrant or any legal document for this action. This action was taken on alleged UBL Bank fraud. It is question in itself that plain clothed persons came with ASI Aftab were also same ones who had come home with information from bank earlier. How police officers are also involved in bank fraud and cybercrime against citizens, K
UJ statement said. There was neither any case nor an application against Mukhtar Shah but still police took him to police station and kept in custody. DG FIA has also been demanded to arrest staff of UBL Bank and others involved in this.
