‘KPC organises award event to honour women in respective fields’

Karachi: To mark International Women’s Day, Karachi Press Club organised Karachi Press Club Excellence Award ceremony for women who have shown outstanding performance in various fields of life.

Women who have shown outstanding performance in information technology, social work, poetry, corporate, public relations, chef and other fields were honored with awards.

DG Press Information Department Iram Tanveer, Head of Marketing Habib Oil Tabanda Lari, senior Journalist and poet Nasira Zuberi, Founder of Catalyst Lab Jahan Ara, Additional Secretary Education Shireen Narejo, Karachi Press Club President Saeed Sarbazi, Secretary Shoaib Ahmed, members of governing body including Mona Siddiqui and Shazia Hasan, Noor Muhammad Kalhoro, Shoaib Ahmed, Rana Javed, Shams Careo, senior Journalists Mazhar Abbas, Ashraf Khan, Naseer Ahmed, Fawzia Nasir, Miraj Fatima, Khalil Nasir, Nimat Khan and number of club members attended.

Iram Tanveer said that recognition of services of women by Karachi Press Club is commendable. It is pleasure to see her playing dynamic role. Despite this, injustices have been happening to women for long time, women still do not get share in inheritance. They also have to fight for their rights.

He said that if women get decision-making powers, they can better help other women and make good decisions. He said that it is very important for women to be educated. Laws make women stronger.

Rights of women are common rights of family and society, freedom and development of women in education, employment and fulfilling social moral and common responsibilities. Needed.

Women are half of population of society, they should realise their power. Where Ara said that in many families women do not get support of men in their house in education and development yet they go ahead.

Saeed Sarbazi said that until democratic culture and democracy are respected in state. Women’s rights and other human rights will continue to be affected in society and biggest problem is to follow laws related to women’s rights in country and province.

Shoaib Ahmed said that issue of women’s rights Karachi Press Club has always protected rights of women and has highlighted work of women who have served prominently in various fields. It is only organisation where maximum number of women journalists are members and Club is playing significant role in welfare of women embers.

Women who received Razia Bhatti Journalist Award include Manza Siddiqui, Najia Ameer, Misbah Leghari, Razia Sultana, Humira Tahar, Shahr Bano Murtaza, Sadia Obaidullah, Fauzia Shaheen, Humira Bano Musa. Arts and Literature Award Khadija Mastoor, Naheed Sultan, Shaheen Gul, Shehla Mehmood were given.

Shabana Shafiq Health and Education Awards were given to Fawzia Khan, Rafia Mallah, Prof. Shamim Naz Masood, Dr. Rafat Sultan, Rafia Taj and Yasmin Farooqui. In field of sports, Fatima Sana, Qudsia Raja, Fatima Zahra, Safina Khan and Fatima Irfan were honored with award. Jahan Ara and Khadija Mahmood Shahid were awarded for social media/IT.

Charitable Social Work Award to Alia Saram Birni, Mehnaz Rehman, Malika Khan, Nizhat Shereen, Musrat Misbah, Sabiha Shah, Naseem Shaikh and Samreen Ahmed, poetry category to Fatima Hassan, Humabeigh and Nasira Zuberi, Corporate/Public Relations Award Sadia Dada, Haba Awards were given to Moin, Farwa Hasan, Dr. Sana Ghori, Sara Farhan in chef department and Dr. Nosheen, Deputy Director of JPMC. At end, theater play was also presented to mark Women’s Day.
